about

My process

I am a jewelry design and metalsmithing artist because the medium provides me with a boundless landscape for expression while using rigid materials. My recent work has been exploring the relationship between metal adornment and textiles, and the intimacy that they share with the wearer through the use of chainmail. The chainmail displays how clothing and jewelry are used as self expression, but also as a layer of protection. This contemporary use of chainmail disrupts the historical concept of what chainmail can signify and be used for. Disruption is a common theme throughout my work, and I hope to continue to do this through pushing the boundaries of my creativity and medium.

Photography

I highly value the process of creating, and often work intuitively as I complete a piece. My work always develops as I go, and I love discovering the purpose of my work as I create it. I am highly influenced by the alternative goth and punk scenes, whether that be in music or fashion.

Jewelry Design and Metalsmithing

I found an appreciation for film photography because of the slow, hands on process compared to digital photography. I love how meticulous you must be when creating a photo in film. From shooting the photo to developing, printing, and scanning, you must have intention with what you want to create. I love incorporating my photography into other mediums, recently with enameling, and phototransfering onto metal and wood.
